Nadine Smith, a senior leader at the independent non-profit Social Finance, has today been officially appointed as independent Chair for the Transforming Together network.
Nadine has over two decades of experience working in social and public impact. Her work at Social Finance supports organisations from all sectors to work together with communities to deliver pioneering solutions that change systems and lives.
She is a founding director of the Centre for Public Impact, a former director at the Institute for Government and a former Whitehall civil servant. In the Cabinet Office, Nadine led media relations and policy relating to public service reform, social exclusion, social mobility and support to young mothers, and, prior to this was working to support public health outcomes at DHSC. Nadine has worked for several public inquiries to ensure truth and justice were served alongside actionable recommendations for the system to learn and improve.
Nadine is currently leading a team providing learning partnership to services trialling support to people being exploited online. Her team also supports UK wide efforts to reduce violence against women and girls and to ensure employment, housing and health services are accessible, equitable, relational and effective for those at risk of harm.
As Transforming Together's Chair, Nadine will work with the network to identify opportunities for collaborative change and local influence for women experiencing multiple unmet needs in the North East.
Nadine Smith says: “I am deeply humbled to be offered the role of Chair for the Transforming Together Network. I know how important this work is, and how hard its members are working to ensure all women and girls in the North East facing unmet need can be supported holistically and compassionately. This is a group of highly committed and dedicated organisations and individuals determined to transform our systems and help prevent further harm to women and girls. I will do my utmost to bring my policy, systems change and delivery experience to this network, but it is the voices of those with lived and learned experience who I will champion to be seen, supported and heard.”
Indy Cross, CEO of Agenda Alliance, says: “We are delighted that Nadine has joined the Transforming Together network as independent Chair to support real, transformational and long-lasting change for women and girls in the North East. We have heard from members of the network, and through our Transforming Services project in the region, how important it is for independent and national voices to support local calls for change. We are looking forward to working with Nadine to continue to coordinate the network, and ensure that all voices, whether individual or organisational, have the power and opportunity to contribute equitably as we work towards to the solutions needed.”
