We are delighted to announce that our previous 'Services in Recovery' project has been renamed to 'Transforming Services for Women’s Futures,' by our researchers with lived experience.
Agenda and Changing Lives are working on a research project in Tyne and Wear and Northumberland, exploring the ways in which public services can be optimised to better support women with multiple unmet needs. This project, funded by the Smallwood Trust, was originally named 'Services in Recovery' to represent the challenges facing public services after the pandemic – as well as the need for these services to be part of the country’s social and economic recovery plans.
However, following workshops with our group of researchers with lived experience we have renamed the project in line with their wishes and reflections. In discussions with our researchers, they expressed that they wanted something hopeful, that shows there can be a future for women with multiple unmet needs with the right support.
We are very excited about 'Transforming Services for Women’s Futures,' which perfectly captures the mission of this research.
One of the women said, “[The name] sounds promising. It says [what it is] in the title.”
While another woman agreed, “It’s something women can relate to.”
As organisations, both Agenda and Changing Lives are committed to meaningful collaboration and will continue to co-produce this work with local women with lived experience of using services and experience of multiple unmet needs.
We hope that this change in name is reflective of our wider goal to embed the voices, opinions and experiences of women with lived experience across our work.
